About Quota International of Grey Bruce

Quota International of Grey Bruce was chartered in May, 2005 with 25 members. It was named for the two counties in Southwest Ontario that are represented by two well known landmarks, Inglis Falls (Grey) and Flowerpot Island (Bruce).    QI of Grey Bruce is a “Silver Q” club and has been formed by women who wanted to remain in Quota and continue to use their energy and talents to assist others in their community and in all parts of the world but would have less responsibility. We do not have an age limit; however, the majority of our members are retired, semi-retired or contemplating retirement in the near future. We meet every third Tuesday of the month with the exception of our Christmas party in December, unless otherwise stated. We meet at 11 am. to socialize and conduct some business at 11.30 and then break for lunch completing any necessary business or a planned activity after lunch. Our meetings are held from March until December, taking a winter hiatus in January and February. We like variety for our meetings and they are held at local restaurants, parks, local sites of interest or on invitation of one of our members to meet in their home.

Quota International provides assistance for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Speech as well as Disadvantaged Women and Children, locally and around the world.

Fun and camaraderie has become an integral part of this Club.

Quota International of Grey-Bruce celebrated it 5th Anniversary in May of 2010

To those of you who were there when we were chartered it is probably difficult to believe 5 years has gone by so quickly. We share your feelings. We have had a marvellous 5 years. We have grown to a fairly steady membership of 40 from our original 25. We have sadly lost some of our members and they were remembered at our anniversary meeting. A few moved away or had to leave due to illness or family commitments.

We have had many projects, helping people locally and responding to needs around the world, as Quotarians do. We have also enjoyed ourselves immensely with social activities, bus trips, learning new skills and spending time in each others company. We have been there for each other in times of sadness, in friendship and happy times.

The mayor of Owen Sound, Ruth Lovell-Stanners, joined us to celebrate at our May meeting and congratulated us on our success and good fellowship.
