Quota International of Ottawa
Liz Revell, a 26-year member of the Quota Club of Ottawa, has held many club offices including that of President and Secretary, sometimes, more than once. She has been very active on numerous club committees including being Co-Chair of our Conference Committee and our Night at the Races events.
In District 18, Liz was on the District Standing Rules Committee and has been District Parliamentarian, Lt. Governor and Governor. Liz served as Canada Area Director from 2002 to 2004. Liz chaired the International Disadvantaged Women and Children’s Committee, was a member of the International By-Laws Committee, and was a member of the Bold Vision/Bold Action group of Governors. She was also Chair/Co-Chair of the Welcoming Committees for the International Conventions held in Ottawa and Toronto.
Liz, a very successful educator, graduated from Queen’s University, Kingston Ontario and San Diego State University. She taught high school mathematics, business and computer studies with the Ottawa/Carleton District School Board for 43 years and is now retired. Liz has given many workshops on leadership and computer-related topics. Retirement has not slowed her down. As Webmaster for Quota Canada, she is responsible for additions, updates of graphics and text from all clubs across Canada, Districts 11 and 18 and Canada Area, and also uses her technical expertise to manage the Facebook groups for the Ottawa Club, District 18 and Canada Area. Recently she has assisted with District 18’s grant entries in the Aviva Community Challenge and Pepsi Refresh Competition.
Currently, Liz, as the Secretary of the Ottawa Club, has spearheaded the Club’s project to collect and ship winter clothing to the Inuit in Canada’s Far North. Her hobbies include marquetry, stained glass, gardening, photography and computer graphics and design.
A Quota International Benefactor and Quota International Founder, Liz is a true volunteer and a true Quotarian. She believes in “giving back, sharing and team work” and maintains that “When we work together, anything is possible!”
LINDA BANERJEE
Quota International of Weyburn
Quota International of Weyburn, Saskatchewan is pleased to nominate Linda Banergee as our Volunteer of the Year. Linda is a registered nurse and is employed with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association as a nursing consultant.
Linda joined Quota in 2002 due to a desire to meet new people and get involved in her community. She considers Quota to be a commendable organization due to the organization’s enhancement of community programs and services through fundraising efforts. Linda quickly took on a leadership role by chairing a major fundraiser ‘Women of the Year’, which recognizes exceptional contributions of local women. She has served in varying positions in the club including secretary. For the past three years she has been an active member of the Weyburn Care-A-Van Society which provides transportation for physically challenged individuals. She has assisted with planting and maintaining the downtown Quota flowerbed for the ‘Communities in Bloom’ project as well as participating in ‘Hospitality in the Park’, a community service for camping travellers.
Linda has served on several community boards and for the past twenty years she has been a director on the Weyburn Co-operative Association, a progressive business that is constantly expanding its services to better meet the needs of the community. She volunteers in community fundraisers such as the United Way and the MS Walk.
For the past ten years, Linda has be a member of the Inner Wheel, a sister organization of Rotary International. Of particular interest to her is her involvement with the ‘Grandmothers for Grandmothers’ project, which raises money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation to provide support to African grandmothers who are raising their grandchildren due to the loss of their parents from HIV/AIDS.
She values the many skills she has obtained under the leadership of our senior members as well as the friendships she has developed over the years. Linda believes Quota provides a wonderful opportunity to get to know a variety of people in many different capacities for the betterment of self and the community.
