Quota International of Mariposa
Service Projects

Recently, the members of the Mariposa Silver “Q” got together to hold a “shower” for the Boy’s and Girl’s Club. This Club is run by the Orillia Public Library for children between the ages of six and twelve years.  It is held at the Brian Orser arena as a regular after-hour school program. On PA days, school breaks such as Christmas, and winter break and during the summer months, it operates from St. Paul’s United Church. When at the arena the children are able to use the park behind for outdoor activities, weather permitting.

Chosen Soldier Project

Recently our club has begun supplying gift items to an adopted soldier stationed in Afghanistan. March 14th, 2007 members of the ‘Silver Q’ brought in their gifts to be forwarded to our adopted soldier Cpl. Jen Fitz-Gerald who then shared her parcel with her squadron. Everything from luxury items that they cannot obtain overseas to fun items to necessities were brought in for our parcel. In fact so many items were brought to the meeting that we had to prepare more than the one box of the specified dimensions. Each year our club will send parcels to a different chosen soldier in the hopes of making their lives a little easier.

Here among other things medicated lip balm, cards, wet naps,
foot lotion and M&M’s were parceled up for the trip overseas.
