About Quota International of Medicine Hat

Our club meetings are dinner meetings and we meet at 6:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month at the Callahgan Inn, corner of the Trans Canada Highway and 7th Street SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta. The main objective of Quota is to 'Assist the hearing and speech impaired' and our motto is "We Share".

Our club was chartered in 1945 with a total 20 members. Quota was instrumental in bringing the Vicorian Order of Nurses to out city. We assisted in the purchase of their first new car and have continued to support them with such needs as new bags, office equipment, some patient costs and advertising costs. We've also assisted with the purchase of personal hearing aids, hearing equipment in such places as the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital and the deaf blind specialist support training program as the Medicine Hat College as well as other students in need. We have also furnished a room at the new Women's Shelter, obtained some furnishings for homes of the handicapped, purchased playground equipment, supplied learning tools to a local kindergarten and most recently purchased an alarm system for the local Boy Scout camp. In the month of December we always donate to the Santa Claus fund, the food bank and the 'Trees of Light' (this is a contribution to the hospital to remember our members that have passed on).

In the fifty seven years that our club has been chartered we have had three district governors and various others sit on international committees. At present out membership is down at an all time low, so we are currently looking for some new members to help us.
