Q
MESSAGE TO ALL QUOTARIANS
from
Marie Dobson-Dunlop
CANADA AREA DIRECTOR

Hello to everyone.

I hope everyone who attended the Canada Area meeting this past September enjoyed themselves as much as I did.  Thank you to everyone who helped me.

I have had a very busy fall.  I travelled to 5 of the 6 area meetings; this was done to make myself known as I campaigned for the position of International Treasurer for the one-year term 2012-2013.  In September, I went to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to the South Area meeting where I met both new and old friends.  Sheila Morris is the South Area Director and she put on a wonderful fun-filled weekend, with a mix of information from districts, to clubs, to a boat cruise on the inland waterway to view the homes of Florida’s rich and famous. Next, in September, I went to the Central Area meeting in Dubuque Iowa, where Judy Walthers the Central Area Director also had a great meeting with information on her districts, and clubs.  In October,  I visited the East Area meeting in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where Michelle Fryling is the Central Area Director.  As this was getting close to Hallowe'en the whole main street was decorated for fall and Hallowe'en.  On the Saturday night, the whole street came alive with a fashion show and musicians.  The last area meeting was in Las Vegas on the week-end of Hallowe'en, which was the same weekend as my birthday.  Vickie Conable is the West Area Director and she had planned a Hallowe'en theme were we all came dressed in costume on the Friday night.  I was dressed as an elf, picture this, me walking thru the casino in Vegas dressed as an elf from my room to the meeting room we were in which was in a completely different tower in the casino.  The weekend was also full of information about their districts and their clubs.  At each area meeting I, was given 3 minutes to give my speech on why they should want me to be the International Treasurer.  The South Pacific was sent a DVD to be played at the time allotted for the candidate’s speeches.  That day all the electronics for the meeting were not functioning and therefore my DVD could not be played. Beris Pritchard the Liaison for the South Pacific made my pitch for me.  She told everyone present who I was and what I stood for and I thank her very much.

As most will be aware by now there was no other candidate for my position as International Treasurer, therefore I will be installed in Hawaii in July 2012 as Quota International Treasurer.

Please go to the Quota website to read President Chris’s message as it talks about the results of the Strategic Plan discussions from all 6 area meetings.  It also talks about what will happen next.  It is very important that all members in the entire Quota world know and also understand what is happening.  I am planning for my trip on February 2nd, 2012 to Washington to the mid-term Board meeting.  This is very exciting as we will be discussing where Quota will be going next with our plan.

Soon the schedule for the Conferences will be out and all the Governors will be busy making all their arrangements.  If I can be of assistance to either Governor Ann or Governor Theresa please let me know.

Please plan for Convention in Hawaii in July.  The convention starts on July 10th with the Governors' Reunion , open to past/current district officers. On July 11th there will be Leadership Training for 2012-13 district officers and this is optional for club presidents. The General Session starts that same afternoon at 3.30pm to 5pm., with dinner on your own. Thursday July 12 is the first full day of General Session with a Hawaiian Sunset Luau an optional group event.  Friday July 13th is half day General session, and in the evening the Installation Ceremony & Banquet. There are lots of other fun filled things to do in Hawaii so plan to attend.

I want to take this time to express from myself and my family to all Quotarians and their families both in Canada and around the world a Very Merry Christmas and a most wonderful New Year!

Yours in Quota,
