Charter Members Quota Club Of Ottawa -- 1946*

We are a member club of Quota International Incorporated that presently has over 7,000 members in 204 clubs, in 14 countries around the world. Quota International is a non-profit, non-sectarian and non-political worldwide service organization that links people of all ages, occupations and nationalities in a network of service and friendship.

The main areas of our service mandate include providing assistance to people with hearing and speech problems, to youth, and to disadvantaged women and children. We support these areas with our time and fundraising efforts.

In the Ottawa deaf community we helped establish The Capital Region for the Hearing Impaired, now known as the Ottawa Deaf Centre and were instrumental in having a branch of the Canadian Hearing Society opened in Ottawa. CHEO’s audiology lab was the beneficiary of a $100,000.00, 5-year financial commitment from this club.

We have also supported the Ontario’s School for the Deaf and the Bob Rumball Camp for the Deaf in Parry Sound and the Ottawa Deaf Centre’s Fun Sign Camp.

Our youth have been assisted as we have furnished various Youth Services Bureau residences. Through our golf day we have financially supported the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre and the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Ottawa was the recipient of new kitchen facilities.

Our concern for Ottawa’s disadvantaged women and children led us to assist in the establishment of a classroom in the Youville Centre and to support Harmony House a second-stage womens' shelter with funds from our very successful annual Night at The Races fundraiser. Recently we have supported Lanark County Interval House, Cornerstone, the Ottawa Food Bank and the young mother's at St. Mary's home.  This past year partnering with OHRI we successfully raised $16000.00 to support women's health research at the Ottawa Hospital.

Internationally, we participate in Quota’s Club-to-Club program, helping as a partner by contributing to several projects under our service mandate in New Delhi, the Philippines, Fiji and Suriname. We also support CARE and UNICEF.
