| Toy Lending Library – The Weyburn Southeast Regional library has a collection of educational toys available for children to borrow. Quota International of Weyburn has for the last decade helped to purchase some of these toys with an annual donation of about $500.00. The toys are displayed in an attractive case and when children and toddlers decide, the staff comes and gets out the desired fun or educational toy for the children who can then 'borrow' it for two weeks. Parents and children from all socioeconomic backgrounds use this service. |
Violence Intervention Program – This program provides support to abused women and children in our community. Quota has provided monetary support for the program to enable them to purchase items such as reference materials for their library. Members have also donated personal care items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. which are given to the women who often leave their homes with nothing but the clothes on their back. Club members have also made numerous donations of clothing to "Sophia House" (a halfway house for abused women). |

Purchase of Sound Field Systems – A sound field ensures that everyone regardless of where they are seated or what the basic classroom acoustics are like can consistently hear the teacher. Sound fields have the same benefits for children as it does for adults, but is even more important in the classroom because children lack the background knowledge to be able to “fill in the blanks” when they miss words. Multiple studies done over the past two decades have proven that having a sound field system in general education classrooms improves student test scores and comprehension while it decreases ADD referrals and teacher vocal fatigue. To date units have been donated to four elementary schools, two local nursing homes and our public library. Quota International of Weyburn is recognized in the community for these “Signature Donations” as now organizations, which have a need for consistent sound, are submitting requests to our club.
Donations to the Therapeutic Animal Park – Don Sealy, a local Weyburn man has created an animal park that is located just across the road from Tatagwa View Long Term Care Facility. Every day, staff, residents, children and people of the community enjoy the variety of animals in the park. Quota’s donation was to assist in paving the walkways to make it more accessible for wheelchairs and strollers and for ease of walking.
